Two Kinds of Circling Group Practice.png

 Birthday Circling

In a birthday Circle, the group’s attention is focused on the connection with one person for the entire circle. We tune in to our inner experience while simultaneously spiraling through a process of understanding this person’s moment-to-moment inner world. We ask present moment questions, share impact, reflect what we are hearing, check assumptions and practice being with that person exactly as they are without trying to change or fix their experience. It’s an opportunity to notice our habits in relating.

Organic Circling

In an Organic Circle the locus of attention will ‘organically’ move throughout the group, no one is being ‘Circled,’ rather the entire group is in a process of relational discovery, as aliveness emerges. We use the same skills as in Birthday Circling; practicing be with each other without trying to change or fix anyone’s experience, tracking our own reactions, reflecting what we are hearing, asking present moment questions, checking assumptions and owning our own experience.
