“Circling has become a quintessential practice for me. I come to circling events for nourishment, and I carry the practice of self-awareness and authentic relating into the world and my relationships.”
Introduction to
Circling Practice
Circling, also known as, ‘Relational Meditation’ is a group process of discovering truth and aliveness. In a social space, we slow down and pay attention to sensation, thoughts, feelings, desires and underlying motivations. We pay attention to what is arising moment to moment while connecting with other people. Circling is a practice of seeing and being seen in a nonjudgmental, playful, yet potent container.
Circling Skills are Relationship Skills — what we practice in Circling can directly support our relationships
In this introduction we will gain a basic understanding and have a chance to practice skills together. This is great for those who are brand new to the practice or who would like a refresher.
We will do practices individually, in pairs, and small groups. This is an interactive intro with lots of experiential learning.
What is the overall focus of Circling?
Awareness; we practice becoming more aware and attuned to what is happening in the present moment
Communication; we practice communication that is honest and non-blaming
Relationship; we practice skills to address relational dynamics that would normally go unsaid and exercises to bring into our current relationships to create deeper connections
No problem mind-set; we practice a mindset that there is nothing wrong and nothing to fix in the present moment.
